LOAN AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE ROMANIAN-AMERICAN FOUNDATION AND CEED ROMANIA
On December 23rd 2011, CEED Romania obtained a USD 200,000 credit from the Romanian American Foundation, which has the aim to support implementation of the EU funded program: “Entrepreneur for the Third Millennium”.

Green Entrepreneurship – Social Enterprises
for Sustainable Development
CEED Romania is a partner in the pilot “Green entrepreneurship” program funded by Romanian-American Foundation. The program has 3 year duration and it started in February 2011. The lead partner is the Foundation for Partnership.

I-DEALIS Inclusion and Economic Development for the Alpine areas (mountain and sub-mountain) from Romania through Social Enterprises
In March 2011 CEED Romania won a tender launched by Asociatia de Dezvoltare Horezu within their EU-funded project entitled “I-DEALIS Inclusion and Economic Development for the Alpine areas (mountain and sub-mountain) from Romania through Social Enterprises”.

Skills for the future
CEED won a subcontract in partnership with Relians Corp SRL, a consultancy and training organization to deliver training services for the employees of the Ministry of Labor, Family and Social Protection.

| CEED organized its first B2B event in Istanbul in partnership with TOBB and Ozyegin University. The event connected entrepreneurs in the CEED network to Turkish companies looking to do cross border business.

“Adaptability and competitiveness in the road transport sector of Romania”
The strategic project has been awarded a grant during an open tender for strategic projects, launched under the Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development, managed by the Ministry of Labour, Family and Equal Opportunities. The EU financing is provided from the European Social Fund (ESF), one of the EU Structural Funds.

„ ENTREPRENEUR IN THE THIRD MILLENNIUM”
" Entrepreneur in the Third Millenium" has as a general objective the development of the entrepreneurial and managerial skills through intensive use of IT&C in business in view of promoting establishment and development SMEs and generating jobs in Romania.
The project proposal will be funded from the HRD Operational Programme. The grant contract was signed on 18th of June 2010 and the date of start is July 1st, 2010.

| On 29 January 2010, CEED Romania provided the first session of the “Business Management” courses within the Top Class project.
The event was attended by 22 participants - company managers and would-be entrepreneurs - who want to improve their management knowledge and skills.

| South Eastern Europe’s Private Equity Association hosted in Bucharest its second annual conference, entitled “Fueling Healthy Growth - adding value through Private Equity in SEE”.

| CEED attended the 5th edition of the Project Management Forum, “Connect to excellence in project management” organized by CODECS and PMI Romania Chapter in Bucharest.
The event discussed the benefits brought to companies by sound, professional project management.

| The Executive Director of CEED Romania, Mrs. Cristina Manescu participated to the discussion sessions of the fourth edition of the Conference „Structural Funds in Romania”, organized by FinMedia in Bucharest.

On September 30, 2008, Ms. Elizabeth Bradley, the owner of a traditional cheese company came from Ireland to Romania following the business contacts established during Rural Financial and Leadership Development Program, which was the first major project that CEED Romania had implemented.

CEED Romania was invited to a special anniversary event on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 6 p.m., at the Romanian Athenaeum. On this occasion H.E. President Traian Băsescu, H.E. Prime-Minister Călin Popescu- Tăriceanu and H.E. U.S. Ambassador Nicholas F. Taubman addressed the audience. The 15th anniversary of the AmCham Romania brought together member companies, business partners and other authorities.

| The conference on consultancy services - Constanţa 2008 took place in Mamaia, at Iaki Hotel, on the 26th of June 2008 and CEED Romania was invited to take part in this event.

| Between May 20 and May 22, 2008 in Przno (Budva), Montenegro USAID, Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, Economic Growth Office’s Regional Competitiveness Initiative (RCI) invited regional stakeholders from Eastern Europe and the Caucasus to share best practices in tourism and agribusiness, business service delivery mechanisms, esolutions that enhanced competitiveness, and investment attraction.

For the first time in Southeast Europe, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Executive Development brought you a conference designed to help you find the capital you need to significantly grow your business.
CEED brought to Sofia a number of regional entrepreneurs and investors who provided their practical perspective on what it takes to find capital. Over 100 participants had the opportunity to hear real stories from successful entrepreneurs from throughout the region who had "taken their companies to the next level" by working with Venture Capitalists and Private Equity companies. Participating SME entrepreneurs heard what these investors were looking for.

Successful entrepreneurs need money to pursue their business ideas and develop their companies. The course “Non-bank corporate finance: methods and success stories” organized by CEED Romania aimed at supporting dynamic entrepreneurs and find the best solutions for accessing capital in order to sustain their companies’ growth.
Two significant IPO case studies were presented: a public utility company, Transelectrica, who plays a key role in the Romanian and Central&South-Eastern electricity market, and an important private ITC retail firm, Flamingo International. Representatives of both companies presented the success story of the Initial Public Offering (IPO) process they have experienced and how it helped the companies’ development.

CEED Romania participated to the SME Funding Opportunities Event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania on March 12, 2008. During the SME Fair, over 100 companies visited CEED Romania’s booth and the participants were very much interested in the Center’s training and advisory services.
In an interview granted to the Business Magazine of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Executive Director of CEED Romania, Mrs. Cristina Manescu provided a detailed presentation of the Center’s accomplishments, its regional network, and the cooperation opportunities it offers to the Romanian SME community.

| The first regional conference of the CEED network was organized in Slovenia, Rogaska Slatina resort, on 19th of May 2007.
The event brought together a group of over 80 selected high growth SMEs from seven countries from the East and South East European region.

| The entrepreneurship and mentorship project destined to entrepreneurs in the Bucharest-Ilfov Region – Top Class, launched in November 2009 has attracted more than 160 participants registered for the program’s activities which will start on January 29, 2010 with the first learning session.
The training sessions will be organized on a weekly basis, and registered participants can select both general management courses, certified by the National Council for Adult Vocational Training and short practical courses.

| CEED Romania participated to the event “Challenges and Opportunities during an economic downturn - a practical guide in the Romanian market”, held on February 12, 2009. The event’s main components included presentations and a business fair.

The consulting company Depro Inovatie together with the Romanian Fund for Social Development, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Executive Development (CEED Romania) and the Association AMFAR Galitia are building a better future for women participating to the project with the same title, co-financed by the European Union.

The Romanian experience is useful and relevant for the countries which have access to Ipard. In this context, CEED Romania collaborated with its Macedonian peer in organizing the Round Table “Regional SAPARD Best Practices - A Guide for the Future IPARD Utilization”, held on 30th of June 2008, in Skopje, Macedonia.
